Had a sweet flight over from Los Angeles on the epic 12.5 hour flight in a Boeing 777. Turkish Airlines comfort class is absolutely one of the best in the business. However, no matter the comfort level, jet lag has a wonderful way of approaching on its own accord.
So there I was up at 4:30 am and it was time for a jog. I started in an area called Macka where I was staying at the AC Marriot, headed north through Nisantasi and west to Taksim where I snapped a pic of Istiklal Caddesi, the main thoroughfare of European Istanbul. You will find it quite serene after its morning wash, a far cry from those tumbling down it streets a few hours prior.
From Istiklal I continued west through Cihangir ,where I caught a fountain posted in eternity, and a cheeky mural by the get-up graffiti artist of the moment, Leo Lunatic. Heading to Cihangir park where I would see the silhouette of the historical peninsula as the sun gently raised its glory on the magnificient structures.
Continuing through narrow streets and down towards the Bosphorus I caught a wonderful moment of the sun in Findikli as it caught its blaze rising over the Bosphorus bridge.
In all I would measure about a 3.5- 4 mile run at a simple pace, and caught Dolmabahce palace on my way in, not a tourist in sight. Not even the guards standing in their boxes !
With the run out of the way I went for a casual look that fits most in my hometown of Venice Beach, CA, but I decided to roll with it in Istanbul. Check it all out below, I hope you enjoy !
All photos taken with the iPhone 6+ are unedited in any form. Its nice to have it like that.
